"I was raised in Miami Gardens, I have been in this community for 42 years and my mother is here. I am a committed mother of two wonderful daughters that I have raised here and I love the possibility of what we can bring to the city. Knowing that there’s lots more work to be done in the city, I am consistently on the ground, engaged with our citizens to innovate for solutions that lead to progress. If you know me, then you know that this is and has always been a way of life for me. I am running for Mayor of Miami Gardens and leveraging my relationships, knowledge, experience and strength to include as many people as possible to make the city stronger, safer and more livable; from connecting with leaders across the city, to listening to business owners, and hearing from and working with regular everyday hard-working citizens trying to make the best of their lives.
When I ran for office of councilwoman, I was elected and we got things done. I ran a second time and achieved so much but when I left office as councilwoman my work was not completed and I want to finish what I was called to do. I'm qualified to be mayor not only because I live in this city and love it. I sat on the dias for 8 and 1/2 years and I was not one to sit in my office. I'm out in the community engaging with people; all the time. I am driven by my love for the people in this community. I stay connected non-stop because love attending the council meetings, crime watch, homeowner meetings and town hall meetings, park activities and important health and safety initiatives, I could go on and on, but the point is, I know the heartbeat of the residents. I am transparent and listen. That's most important.
We are Miami Gardens.
